Senior Center Receives Stipulations For Reopening

P1050198

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Center for Seniors is reacting to the reopening stipulations placed by Governor Dewine.

The stipulations were made public yesterday, august 31st. Executive Director Ann Combs has her reaction as well as that of her staff.

“Governor Dewine announced a few days ago that he would be signing orders that would give adult day and senior centers the opportunity to consider reopen September the 21st, which is coming up very soon. Those orders were signed and distributed yesterday afternoon. We are currently going through those orders and reviewing them with all the powers that be.”

The center has no set plan to reopen but is considering all possibilities. Given that seniors are in the danger age range for COVID the guidelines are a bit harsher than for other businesses.

“Some of the things we see, because it will create a very different type of environment here at the center: social distancing, masking and testing is all implemented within this order. I’m not a legal expert, but we are digesting that, it came out yesterday, to determine how we might best implement those.”

In the meantime the center is still providing at home meals and prescription drug help to area seniors.
