MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Shrivers Hospice Foundation surprised an Army Veteran Sergeant this afternoon at the Zanesville American Legion post.

Shrivers Hospice Foundation strives to make their patients happy. One way in doing so is by creating bucket list experiences.

80-year-old Sergeant William Moorehead has been home bound for over two years. He is a former car show enthusiast. When he was asked if there was anything left on his bucket list, he answered with wanting to see his friends at the American Legion.

The Shrivers Hospice Foundation did just that.

“He hasn’t been out of the house for almost a couple of years and he really wanted to get to the Legion and see his buddies, so we made that happen. He was really excited. He got to ride in the Model A Ford,” Shrivers Hospice Foundation Chief Marketing Officer Jessica Sabine said.

Friends and family were filled with smiles while they waved as he was escorted to the American Legion in a Ford Model A.

A mini car show was also held in his honor.

“Once a patient is admitted to hospice, a lot of times depression goes up, not only for the patient but the family. Having something to look forward to really kind of changes that for a patient and family. We work with them to figure out what it is they like to do and really try and make that happen,” Sabine said.

Shrivers Hospice Foundation continues to work closely with patients and improve the quality of patient lives.
