ZANESVILLE, OH- The South Zanesville Fire Department held their first ever Easter Egg Hunt today.

Despite rainy conditions guests still had the opportunity to enjoy prizes, food, and the egg hunt.

“When you come, just like today, we have a bunch of door prizes for the little kids and the older kids, so you come in and register your name and we will draw tickets out for it, we have roughly 2,400 eggs out here on the ground of the fire station,” said Fire Chief, Russell Taylor.

Members of the South Zanesville Fire Department came up with the idea to hold an easter egg hunt to show their support for the community.

“Our job is to help the community as much as possible, but what we can do for kids to change their lives is the great opportunity we have to reach kids, right now I think we have somewhere around 65 kids standing in the fire department and it’s just a joy to see it on their face being around fire trucks and firemen, they love that,” said Taylor.

The South Zanesville Fire Department will hold their egg hunt again next year. Weather permitting the event will be hosted at the South Village Park. They plan to have bounce houses and cotton candy machines at next year’s event. For more information you can visit South Zanesville Fire Department on Facebook.
