ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Black History Month is coming to an end. The last installment of the 4 part Sunday series at St. Paul AME church will commemorate black history with jazz and book readings.
The Putnam Underground Railroad Education Program is hosting this event starting 3 p.m. It will showcase local authors and musicians.
“We will have reading from two of our local artists. Mary Ann Bucci will be reading from her book Arts and Stories by Mary Ann Bucci. And then we will have a dramatic presentation dealing with Dennis’ book. And Dr. Anita Jackson will do special reading from his new book,” said Putnam Underground Railroad Education Founder Kathy Brantley.
The music for this event is being provided by the Jazz Impulse.
“It is an absolute amazing big band. It’s very soulful. You’re going to enjoy it to the hike. Rod Vaugn on the saxophone. Les Kelley on the drums. Mark Walker and Emory Myers on the rhythm guitar. Keeping us on beat is John Largent on bass guitar. And playing all the minor keys will be Dr. Keith Brantley,” said Dennis McIntire.
Brantley said she wants everyone to come out and have a good time.
