Stats from Guernsey County OVI checkpoint

CAMBRIDGE, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released statistics from their two Friday OVI checkpoint in Guernsey County.
According to Lt. J. Tracy the first checkpoint took place from 9 p.m. till 11 p.m. on State Route 209 milepost 14. The second checkpoint was at US 22 milepost six from 11 p.m. till 1 a.m.
During that time a total of 294 vehicles were contacted with an average interaction time of 20 seconds. Three vehicles were diverted for driving without a license. Saturation patrols around the checkpoint had two probable cause searches that resulted in minor misdemeanor drugs. There was one OVI arrest from investigating a crash.
Assisting the Highway Patrol in the checkpoint was the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office, Cambridge Police Department, and Byesville Police Department.
