The 6th Annual Stud-a-thon with the Habitat of Humanity

ZANESVILLE, OHIO – The Habitat of Humanity of Southeast Ohio brought sponsors together for their annual Stud-a-thon event.
According to Melissa Best, the director of community of engagement for the Habitat of Humanity of Southeast Ohio, about 100 people came to paint around 100 studs that will frame the next house built in Zanesville.
“I always say that it takes a community to build a community and this event is a prime example of everybody coming together for a great cause. And it’s a lot of fun. It’s easy and at the end of the day we are going to be building walls,” Best said.
Thursday’s event was the 6th year for the event which has been hosted at the American Legion every year since its inception. Supplies were donated by Home Depot. Best says that the support the community shows for the event is what makes everything possible.
“My favorite part of this event is seeing everybody come together. Our friends at the American Legion Post 29 have been fabulous. You know whenever we reach out to them, they’re always ready to help and it’s really a combination of everybody pitching in and just making this event great getting the walls, you know, sponsored,” Best said.
Stud sponsorships range from one stud at $250 to six studs for $1,000. For those who missed the event, you can still visit the Zanesville ReStore to pick up a stud, decorate it, and return it before the end of the month.
