WHIZ Sports 3-3: Heath Upsets Beechcroft, Wins District Title

COLUMBUS, OH- The seventh-seeded Heath Bulldogs went up against the number-one Beechcroft Cougars at Ohio Dominican University with the District Title on the line.

Heath took a six-point lead into halftime but Beechcroft quickly cut into the lead and gained momentum, making this one a tie game at the end of three quarters.

But it was the grit and tenacity of the Bulldogs that allowed them to stay ahead throughout the second half. Forward Keylan Williams came up big on both ends of the floor and the senior trio of Reece Huber, Josh Guy, and Brandon McLaughlin controlled the offense.

Heath would take the lead late in the fourth quarter and Beechcroft tried to craft a last-second comeback, but it was not enough as the Bulldogs took down the Cougars 49-45 and win their third District Title in program history.

Williams led the Bulldogs in scoring with 17 points in the win.
