MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Zanesville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church (CMA) will be having two Luminary Walks in support of the Zanesville Salvation Army.

Both events will take place this Sunday on December 19th and upcoming Monday, December 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. that will feature music and about 500 luminaries.

Andy Winters, the Lead Pastor at the Zanesville CMA Church, said the Luminary Walk idea came from their Hope Center as the purpose of the walk represents the hope of Christ.

“We meet in our Hope Center and we just discuss ideas, so we were looking at different community services and organizations and realized that the Salvation Army does a lot of good for our community, and we know that they help out a lot of people, especially during the winter months,” Winters stated. “So we saw the opportunity then to come alongside them and maybe produce an event that would draw people to join in and support the Salvation Army.”

Residents of the community can walk the trail while enjoying the peaceful candle lights that outline the path.

Admission for the Luminary Walk is one donation for the Salvation Army and donations can be in the form of essential items or monetary.

“They are in need of blankets and umbrellas. They are in need of bigger sized clothes like medium, large sweatpants, sweatshirts, socks, gloves, anything that is used for warmth would be a great thing. We’ll also take money and make sure they get that so they can purchase what they need as well,” said Tammy Clark, a member of Zanesville CMA Church.

The Church is located at 545 Richey Road. The trail is about a 10th of a mile long and suitable for able bodied people. The walk will have a guide that will lead the residents and there will also be cookies, hot chocolate and fellowship.
