ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Christmas is just a couple of weeks away and picking the perfect tree is no easy task.

Timber Run Gardens, Owner, Steve Carter said there are a couple of options when dealing with live trees

“Live trees you should only have in the house maybe 5 or 6 days and planted them after Christmas,” Carter said. “Water them in good, no matter what the weather is, because they are live.” The nicest cut tree on the market today is the Fraser Fir. That’s the only type of cut tree we handle. Needles stay nice. Very soft. East to decorate. Very straight truck so it’s not too hard to pick out.

Carter said the price of live trees range from $20 to $100, it all depends on size. Cut trees tend to have a base price, which is not dependent on the size. Carter shared some helpful tips on keeping your Christmas tree hydrated.

“Most of the stands that you use to put the tree in have a reservoir area,” Carter said. “You want to keep that filled and it will absorb the water then that way. Just regular tap water is good with a touch of bleach. It keeps the pores of the trunk open a little bit better and will absorb more. You don’t need very much just a teaspoon maybe.”

Carter said the most popular size Christmas tree is between 6 to 8 feet.
