Tree removed from house
After a full day of strong winds last Wednesday, a tree topled onto a home in Zanesville.
Wednesday, crews worked to remove the tree leaning on the house at 149 Galigher Street. While there was no structural damage to the house, the family still could not go back inside. Rex McManes lives in the home, and he describes the reaction after the tree collapsed last week.
“From what the fire department said, it was actually an act of God, a blessing that it didn’t fall through, as big as the tree was,” McManes said.
Since the tree collapsed, McManes has been living with different family members. He said he’s looking forward to getting back home.
“I got the surprise of my life when my uncle came in, he turned around said yeah, the boom truck and everything is at your place,” he said. “I was like All right! We’ll be in there by noon.”
Building official, Tim Smith conducted an inspection of the home Wednesday. As long as that inspection went as planned, he said power would be restored and the family could move back in.
