Both John Glenn and Tri-Valley were victorious Friday night to advance to the football state final four.

In DIII the Scotties were in Newark to take on two-time defending state champion Bishop Hartley. The Hawks scored first to go up 6-0. However, thanks to two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Andrew Newsom, Tri-Valley edged out Bishop Hartley 13-9. It’s the first regional title in school history for TV.

Tri-Valley will advance to play Akron St. Vincent St. Mary in the final four. It will be a rematch of the season opener, which the Irish beat the Scotties in Dresden 21-13. The location for the game has not been announced.

In DIV The John Glenn Little Muskies took on MVL foe Philo at Sulsberger Stadium. That game was a rematch of a week four game that Philo beat JG 28-17. The Little Muskies jumped on Philo early and rolled to a 38-7 win behind three rushing touchdowns from Shane Bonner.

The Little Muskies are in the state final four for the first time since 1980. They’ll play Clinton-Massie on Friday at a location to be named. The Clinton-Massie Falcons beat a previously undefeated Wyoming team 28-7 on Friday.

WHIZ-TV will have coverage of both playoff games all week long.
