Trunk or Treat Held at Perry County Fairgrounds
Hopewell Health Center held their 11th annual Trunk or Treat at the Perry County Fairgrounds Wednesday.
40 local businesses and their employees came out. Some in costume and in decorated vehicles, with trunks full of candy for the kids. As for mom and dad, businesses passed out information on their community services. Employees of Hopewell Health Center Stephanie Elekes and Suzi Paul, told us the event is community driven.
"(Stephanie) All the area businesses donate, everything we’ve gotten, going on here tonight’s donated, from the DJ, to the pizza, giving us a deal on the pizza so the community support for this thing is amazing. (Suzi) Yeah, the county, really just everyone pitches in. I mean all the organizations–it’s great."
Crafts, food, drinks and music were also offered to those who attended. Elekes and Paul said they prepared supplies for one thousand individuals. Elekes and Paul told us the response from the community is always a positive one.
"(Stephanie) Oh they love it. The kids love it. The kids love seeing Elvroy out there dancing, they love, because our office, we all participate, and we’re all clowns. They love us, and they come in the office and they’re like ‘they’re the clown, you’re the clown’ so the kids love it. (Suzi) It is nice, even with our office and some of the other offices, they get to see you outside of the setting and they’re not afraid of you or anything when they come in. (Stephanie) Right, we’re not always the nurse who’s giving them the shots. *laughing*"
Local children also came wearing their favorite costumes, and as far as their favorite things about the event, we got a wide range of responses.
"Candy!"
"Candy!"
"Dressing up."
"Probably getting candy…"
"I’m having fun."
The event began at 6PM and ran until 8PM.
