United Way Celebrates National Volunteer Week
The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties is celebrating ‘National Volunteer Week’.
In honor of the week Community Impact Director Becky Clawson wants to highlight that while 211 Calls are always available to help with food and utility assistance, they’re also a great resource for finding opportunities to volunteer locally.
“If you have a day where you would be off for a holiday and you’d like to spend that day in service, you can call them and they probably have an opportunity for you,” said Clawson. “So you can do that by calling 2-1-1. Volunteering really is a way to give back in your community and your time is your most valuable resource.”
Clawson is proud to celebrate the United Way volunteers this week. She said through over 1,000 hours of volunteer work, over $250,000 in tax preparation fees was saved in Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan counties.
“Our volunteers really are the people who make that happen,” said Clawson. “Without them we certainly couldn’t have helped the community in that way.”
The United Way is now looking for community members interested in investing in their community to participate in the 2016-2017 United Way campaign.
