United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties Present Their Phase Two Funding Awards

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Phase two of the United Way Funding Awards has arrived with many organizations listed to receive an award.
There are three phases of the United Way funding awards, according to Katie Grubbs, Community Impact Coordinator at United Way in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan County and today one of out of the six organizations a part of phase two, the Heroes Landing Children’s Justice Center of Ohio received $24,990.
“We did a total of $110,529 back into the community for education, health and financial stability for our community members,” Grubbs stated. “We send out any local non profit agency that’s interested and has the same goals that we have so those three pillars we look for those and during our phase two, we actually focused on empowerment so we really wanted to make sure our community members felt empowered with the programs that we chose.”
Heroes Landing Children’s Justice Center of Ohio is an organization that help children heal and coordinate the investigation and recovery for child sexual abuse survivors.
Evonne Saunders, the Executive Director of Heroes Landing shared how this award will really be beneficial towards the forensic interviewing equipment.
“Knowing that there are children who are victims of sexual abuse and empowering them, to use one of Katie’s words, to tell their story and come forward is instrumental to breaking a generational cycle of abuse and being awarded the funds to have recording equipment that we can use to capture their story, and make an assessment for mental health professional needs that they might require as well as prosecution purposes is just part of the backbone of what we strive to do,” Saunders said.
Other organizations being awarded during phase two are Muskingum Behavioral Health’s Naomi House, YMCA’S Safety Water Program, Foodworks Alliance’s Recovery with Purpose, Pathways 211 Service and Apprisen’s Financial Coaching.
