The United Way releases November 211 report

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The United Way of Muskingum, Perry, and Morgan Counties 211 program has seen an increase in food and financial assistance requests for the month of November.

Community impact director, Becky Clawson said the results of the reports are typical for this time of year. 211 received more than 850 calls last month.

“We’re working with the community to try to meet some of those needs,” Clawson said. “Recently we partnered up with The Salvation Army. Our staff went there to volunteer during the holidays to help pack food boxes there that they give away. The serve about 1,000 families with those boxes.”

Clawson said they see the need in the community and are trying to combat it best way they can. The United Way is searching for volunteers to help during tax season.

“We’d love to serve more families in that way but we need more volunteers. We have a great program that runs in all three counties and I have a great coordinator that trains, supervises, and helps out. It’s so easy to do. If I could do it anyone can do it,” Clawson said.
