War Hero Laid To Rest

CROOKSVILLE, Ohio-Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Ronald Rosser died at the age of ninety this past Wednesday.
Rosser was an area native who was given the prestigious award for acts of valor in the Korean War. He was a lifelong military man who was laid to rest in Crooksville this afternoon. Funeral director Dorothy Goebel said the event was meticulously planned.
“This has been in the planning stages for a long time. It’s lots to do in a short period of time. Coordinating with the honor guard and the military, and then Mr. Rosser a horse drawn caisson, so we had to hire that and make sure they could be here at this time and justy getting all the details and all the paperwork.”
The funeral took place at Crooksville High School and Rosser was buried in the adjacent cemetery. Goebel knew Rosser in his life and considers it a great honor to be the one burying him.
“He was a perfect gentleman. He was a wonderful, interesting man. Always a perfect gentleman, we actually had dedicated a wall of pictures in our funeral home several years ago to Mr. Rosser. He was a fine man, so generous, had a scholarship for the kids at school, and was always wanting to help kids make good decisions… This is, I’m sure, the most important we ever have had or ever will have.”
WHIZ would like to extend its condolences to the Rosser family and may Mr. Rosser rest in peace.
