West Muskingum Advances off of PK

West Muskingum defeated Coshocton 2-1 in boys soccer Wednesday night to advance to their second consecutive district championship. Similar to both boys and girls soccer matches around the area, this playoff game featured strong defense and very low scoring, with one key penalty committed by Coshocton that made the difference. Ironically West Muskingum was leading the match 1-0, when senior midfielder Judah Nelson was fouled in the box and scored the tying goal on a penalty kick to draw the Redskins even at 1-1. The score remained 1-1 at halftime.
Midway through the second half, West Muskingum’s Francesco Rossi was fouled navigating in the box, which lead to a penalty kick opportunity, this time for Rossi and West Muskingum. Rossi scored the penalty kick to make it 2-1 West Muskingum, and that would ultimately be the difference. West Muskingum’s defeats Coshocton 2-1.
