We’ve Got A Case Of “Spring Fever”

The snow is beginning to melt which means soon spring will be in the air.

The 12th annual “Spring Fever” Home Gardening Symposium took place Saturday at Ohio University Zanesville. The event featured nationally known speaker, Felder Rushing, who educated attendees about the art of slow gardening.

“My program is about slow gardening, it’s about savoring what you do, savor it, enjoy it, use all of your senses and then share it with others. It’s nice to grow stuff that’s pretty to look at and after you look at it you can eat it. It’s not that hard, you don’t have to be a farmer to grow some vegetables or a few herbs in a pot.”

Those who attended were also afforded to opportunity to talk with other educators on topics such as container gardening, vegetable gardening, lawn care, water gardening and much more.

“Oh, it’s a terrific day to come out and enjoy the spring offerings that we have here. We have several vendors that have a lot of their flowers out here trees and shrubs to kind of get us in the mood,” said President of the Muskingum Valley Garden Society, Kathy Mohler.

All proceeds from the days event go to the Muskingum Valley Garden Society where they will use the funds to complete various beautification projects around downtown Zanesville.
