ZNESVILLE, OH- Dick McBride is known for his amazing wood replicas, handcrafting the tiniest details on everything from trucks, to tractors to construction vehicles.

Today, he donated his replica of the Lorena Sternwheeler to the Zanesville Muskingum County Welcome Center. The piece took him two months to create. McBride explained why he doesn’t mind spending the time creating these masterpieces.

“Well, number one, I love woodworking. I retired from the Navy and when I retired from the Navy I went to Rockway as a Machinist and I wanted to do something small with my hands. So that’s the reason why I started this, I’ve been doing it for about thirty years now.”

Vice President of the Zanesville Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce Kelly Ashby was on hand to accept the creation.

“The Lorena is definitely is a pride, a focal point, something that makes us proud that we have the Lorena Sternwheeler here in Muskingum County. Having this, made by this gentlemen’s hands and it’s just such a beautiful replica that we get to host here at the Welcome Center is just phenomenal.”

McBride, who may be best known for his replica of the Big Muskie recently donated that work to The Wilds. If you’re interested in seeing the Lorena Sternwheeler replica it’s now on display at the Welcome Center.
