Z.M.C.B performs at Secrest Auditorium

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band performed Sunday evening at the Secrest Auditorium.
There were about 60 performers in the act tonight, playing instruments like the tuba, clarinet, saxophone, flute and more. Artistic Director David Turrill said the inspiration behind tonight’s performance was the veterans.
“It is a musical tribute to the World War Two era. So, we will do some pieces that actually honor the men and women who sacrificed their lives with three different pieces. We’re also going to play some music that was popular in the day, popular music like Glenn Miller tribute as well as some other pop songs that would’ve been on the radio that kind of helped with the home front and helped with morale of the country,” said Turrill.
The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band does shows every other Sunday in the Summer. Turrill feels that this community has a large amount of veterans, and believes they will really enjoy the show.
“Well, I think that there are a lot of veterans in this community and I think this is a very patriotic community and I think they respond very well and I think they like these kinds of concerts. The concerts we do here we try to figure out what our audience wants and needs and this is certainly one of them.”
The Zanesville Memorial Concert Band’s next concert will be “Celebrate America”. The concert will be at the Secrest Auditorium on June 30th.
