ZANESVILLE, Ohio- This months ZAAP artist of the month will feature a younger crowd.

The Zanesville Appalachian Arts Project will have the works of the Bethel Community Center children for the month of February.

The artwork will be on display for the First Friday Art Walk, thanks to the help of one well-known artist.

Distinguished artist, Mary Ann Bucci, said it was a wonderful program that pulled her in.

“For about 8 weeks I taught them, I shouldn’t even say taught, I just enjoyed being with them and I was painting right alongside with them,” said Bucci.

Bucci said she preferred to teach by example and share how much she loves art.

“Picasso always said that every one of us is born an artist, but to remain an artist is so difficult, and it truly is, but these children have a good start, they were just like little sponges,” said Bucci.

Bucci encourages other artists in the community to volunteer with the program as well.

This will be the first art show for the children of the Bethel Community Center. The reception for their art will take place during the First Friday Art Walk from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m. on Friday, February 3rd.
