Zane Trace Players to Perform “Wait Until Dark”

The Zane Trace Players held a dress rehearsal for their upcoming play Wednesday evening.

Wait Until Dark was written by Frederick Knott. Director of the play, George Patterson says it is set in 1967 New York City and is about a blind woman named Susy Hendrix. She and her husband come into possession of a doll containing a criminal element, which is sought after by 3 conmen. Patterson says a lot of hard work went into preparing for the play.

"This one got to be a little more challenging on that because of the complexity of the set. There is a lot more action and technical aspects in this show than your traditional show that you put on because of this show being so sensory in nature because we try to immerse you in the world of the blind lady."

The show will run this weekend and next weekend at the Renner Theater in Downtown Zanesville. Patterson related the play to the thrill of riding a roller coaster.

"I think the thing that they’ll like about it the most is that its a little uncommon for this area in the sense that, it’s a little more, I don’t want to say fast paced. It’s a little more suspenseful and perilous type story. It’s one of those deals, I liken it to, if you like to stand in line for that roller coaster ride and you get the anticipation build up and then finally you’re going over those hills, wait until dark is definitely a roller coaster ride."

Patterson is hoping for a sellout. To reserve tickets, you can call the number: (750)453-8481
