Zanesville donut shop, gas company team up for Daylight Saving Time

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Two area businesses partnered up on Monday with free coffee for customers.

Donald’s Donuts and Columbia Gas celebrated Daylight Saving by handing out free large cups of coffee to customers. Partial owner of the donut shop Daniel Warne says the deal was to tell customers that the time change and natural gas ‘stinks.’

“Daylight Saving Time kind of stinks, getting up in the morning and losing that hour of sleep, especially Monday going back to work. So the partnership [we] got going on is — you know what else stinks, natural gas and if you’re smelling that notify people and let people know.”

Several customers agreed and told WHIZ about missing appointments and waking up feeling groggy.

Donald’s Donuts has been a fan favorite over the decades. This year marks their 60th year.

Warne says their secret ingredient to being constantly sold out is the time and effort put into each sweet.

“Putting in the time and effort. We get up every morning. We do it fresh. We’re back there cutting it every morning, putting in the time and energy, making sure everything is done by hand the right way. It’s an incredible blessing. Wake up every morning and come into work excited and try to put in our best work and we really appreciate the community that’s appreciated us for all these years.”
