Zanesville High School Holds Book Launch

The Zanesville Sophomore Honors English Class held their book launch Thursday.

This is the third year now the school has published a book. Library Media Specialist and English Teacher, Lori Lee says this was a project based assignment. Lee explains the process of what went into making the book “Mixing the Memories” a hardcover reality.

“What they do is they start by interviewing a family member and then they take that interview and create a transcript and then from there, they take something that happened to the person that they interviewed and changed this into a story, into a narrative format. So they have to decide on a point of view, they have to decide on a setting, and they try to talk about something that changed that persons life.”

We got the chance to talk to Sadie Sims, one of the students in the Honors Class, who says a lot of effort went into completing it. She says she is excited to see the reactions of those who buy it.

“Some of these stories are really interesting, they’re touching. They just–they make you feel good.”

The school held a book signing until 8PM Thursday at the John McIntire Library. If you would like a copy of the book, you can visit the Zanesville Schools website: www.zanesville.k12.oh.us

The book was dedicated to Eric Walker, who was a member of the initial class when the project began a couple of years back. He has since been diagnosed with cancer. The books will be sold for $20, and $4 will be donated to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Walker’s name.
