ZANESVILLE, oh – Christmas is the spirit of giving, not just getting.

On November 7th, the Jaycees club in Zanesville hosted their annual Christmas for Kids. Each Jaycees member was paired up with a child in need and took 12 kids to Walmart to Christmas shop for their families. The Jaycees President, Taylor A. Russell says that this event shows the kids that it’s better to give than to receive.

“It’s early in the season but to see the Christmas spirit in these kids that might not have had the Christmas spirit. The smile on their faces knowing that they’re giving their mom and dad a Christmas, and their name’s going on it and it’s coming from them… it’s quite special.” President of the Zanesville Jaycees Taylor A. Russell said.

After the kids went on their Christmas shopping sprees, they went back to 630 Main to wrap their gifts and have a pizza party. While wrapping their Christmas gifts, a very special man made an appearance, some may know him as Santa Clause. Santa himself gave each of the kids a Christmas gift based on all the money the Jaycees raised this past year.

“It means a lot. This is my tenth year in, and this is my tenth Christmas for Kids. I’ll probably continue to do this until I can’t anymore.” Russell stated.
