Zanesville Kiwanis Club Annual Peanut Sale

The Zanesville Kiwanis Club is getting ready for their annual peanut sale this weekend.

Kiwanis was founded in 1915 and is a global organization. It is made up of volunteers who work to change the world one child and community at a time. Peanut sale chairman of Kiwanis Kevin Pinson told us that their annual sale is broken up into 2 parts.

"It’s two parts, we have a corporate sale where we go to businesses and sell them cases of peanuts, then we also do our street sale which is coming up this Friday and Saturday, where we’ll be at various locations throughout town asking for donations in exchange for peanuts."

This is the Kiwanis club’s largest fundraiser of the year and they hope to raise $18,000. Pinson says that every dollar they raise goes right back into the community.

"We take every dollar that we raise and invest it right back into the community. We do several projects. Mostly focused on children, we have a Christmas party every year for 60 low income kids, give them gifts and let them spend time with Santa. We help with the Carr Center’s Special Riders Program, to give disabled folks, horseback riding opportunities. We build wheelchair ramps for those who can’t afford to put them in themselves and several other projects."

You can donate to the peanut fundraiser at Friday and Saturday October 3rd and 4th at Riesbeck’s, the intersections of Brandywine and Bell and Walmart North and South.
