Zanesville and Morgan advance to boys soccer district tournament

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Two area boys soccer teams won and advanced to the DII district tournament.

Zanesville traveled to Minevra and the eighth seeded Blue Devils took down the Lions 1-0. Jack Thorne scored the lone goal in the game. ZHS will move on to the district tournament to play second seeded Stuebenville on Tuesday on a location to be announced.

Then down in McConnelsville the Morgan Raiders boys team won their first sectional championship in school history. The Raiders blanked East Liverpool 6-0. They’ll advance to play either Harrison Central or River View on Tuesday at a location to be named.

If both Zanesville and Morgan win their district semi-final matchups, then they would meet in the district championship game on Saturday.
