Zanesville Police investigate west side shooting.

The Zanesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning on Schaum Avenue.

Zanesville Police says at approximately 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday a 28-year-old male victim came to 604 Schaum Avenue to speak with the resident, Joshua Shumate. ZPD say an argument between Shumate and the victim broke out which lead Shumate to retrieving a handgun from inside his residence. Shumate then fired one shot that struck the victim’s front tire of his vehicle.

Shumate was taken into custody and is currently incarcerated at the Zanesville City Jail and has been charged with one count of felonious assault. No injuries were reported.
