Zanesville preparing football players for more than X’s and O’s

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For Zanesville head football coach Chad Grandstaff making sure his football players succeed on the field is important. But so is making sure that have success long after their days on the gridiron are over.
Thursday at the high school Grandstaff put on a presentation for current and incoming freshman football players about the importance of preparing now for their post high school plans. It’s the tenth year that Blue Devils players heard from former ZHS players about how important it is to start planning now.
“When I first got the job at Zanesville one of the things that concerned me was that there wasn’t a lot of talk about what [the players] are going to do after high school. There was no talk of college. There was no talk of getting a job and they didn’t have a plan. I knew that was a concern. If we are going to be successful as a football program I knew that mind set had to change,” Grandstaff said.
Grandstaff said that he likes what he sees so far in this year’s freshman class.
