Zanesville Students served lunch Tuesday
Dozens of students from the Zanesville City School District received a treat at Adornetto’s Tuesday.
For the past 80 years the Noon Rotary Club of Zanesville has provided a meal and presents to special needs students from the school district. President of the club, Paul McClelland, said the club served 78 students this year.
"We’ve got presents for each one of the kids, and Rotarians go out and do some shopping, and bag those up and we have a special guest," McClelland said. "Santa comes in and meets with the children, delivers the presents. So it’s a really nice time. We’ve got some folks that provide entertainment and really enjoy it."
The children were served pizza, spent time dancing and later on received gifts from santa. Eighty years ago this was the very first service project the Noon Rotary Club did. And McClelland said it’s been going on ever since.
"Sometimes, I think we take it for granite that we’re able to give what we can give to our families, and it’s nice to be able to give beyond that to other folks in the community who may not be able to experience what you experience on a daily basis," McClelland said. "It’s just a nice thing to do at this time of year and remember how good we have it sometimes."
Students between the ages of six and twelve were served at lunch Tuesday.
