ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Tasia Staunton will join a long list of Zanesville basketball players to play college basketball on scholarship.

Staunton signed Thursday afternoon to play hoops at DII West Liberty University in West Virginia. The 5’10” senior will be attending on a full ride scholarship.

Staunton said there were many reasons why she decided to be a Hilltopper.

“The main reason I picked West Liberty is because they had my major. Which is dental hygiene. The second reason I picked it is because they are Division II and I knew that is what would fit me best. And West Liberty came looking at me first,” said Staunton.

Staunton was named special mention all-Ohio last season. She said she is very excited to play one final year in a Blue Devil uniform.

“I’m really excited for my senior year. I’m hoping everything goes as planned. I will never forget being here at Zanesville,” said Staunton.

The Lady Blue Devils will open this season up on Nov. 29 at home against New Philadelphia.
