New Year's is right around the corner and that means so are the dangers of this holiday.

The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety analyzed data from 2000 to 2009 and found that an average of 80 people a year are killed in alcohol related crashes on New Year's Day.  The data also reveals that the number of people killed in alcohol related crashes dramatically increase around New Year's.

More than 42 million Americans are expected to travel over the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

AAA says that's an 11.4% increase from last year.

"Friends and family, it's really once a year they get together, and they aren't going to allow the gas prices to discourage them or impact their decision on travel, to visit friends and family for the holidays," says local store manager, Rhoda Collins.

It's the leading cause of death among kids...accidents on the roadway. But the AAA Auto Club says parents can help prevent this from happening just by taking a few simple safety precautions.

As Summer begins to wind down, an expected 34.4 million travelers will be making their way from point A to point B this holiday weekend.

Ohio auto club AAA has some travel tips that will keep you safe, and sane. According to AAA, the majority of travelers, 91% to be exact, will be on the roadways, up more than 10% from 2009.

AAA Auto Club says that school zones can become congested with children and traffic, and it's important to be cautious while driving.

The summer heat is causing one local towing company to respond to more calls.

Clever's Towing Service on Hoge Avenue here in Zanesville has seen an increase in breakdowns which it attributes to the extended heat we have been experiencing.
