Injury accident on State Route 93

NEWTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle head on accident in Newton Township that sent one of the drivers to the hospital.

It happened around 12:30 this afternoon on State Route 93 Near the Lambert Road intersection. Sergeant Russ McDonald with the Zanesville Post said the driver of a Ford Ranger Truck was taken to Genesis Hospital with unknown injuries.

“The black Ford Ranger was coming northbound on State Route 93 appeared to have gone left of center and side-swiped one of Sidwell Materials roll-off container trucks that was going southbound on 93.” said Sergeant McDonald.

The driver of the container truck was not injured in the accident. Newton Township, Crooksville, and South Zanesvile Fire Departments, the muskingum County E-M-A and the Ohio Department of Transportation also responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
