ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Columbia Gas and the Salvation Army of Zanesville are teaming up to provide for those in need.

Columbia Gas employees as well the Salvation Army staff were volunteering at the Salvation Army soup kitchen this afternoon to serve those in need of food assistance. Along with volunteering their time in the kitchen, Columbia Gas also presented a check to the Salvation Army for $4,000. Salvation Army is going to be using that money towards their soup kitchen and food pantry serving residents in Muskingum, Morgan, and Perry counties.

“Columbia Gas team is here today to help support our community. These are communities we live and work in. And we’re just doing our part to give back,” said Columbia Gas Operation Center Manager, Joe Coffey.

“It’s just an honor to be here. It’s good to take our hard hats off and put an apron on,” he added.

The Salvation Army and Columbia Gas also help each other during the heating season with the Heatshare program. The Heatshare program provides heat assistance to those in an emergency situation. The program is mainly funded by Salvation Army donors and Columbia Gas customers.

“Heatshare is a great program that allows our customers to contribute and then those contributions can be used, given to other customers through the Salvation Army to help them pay their bills during the heating season. So it’s a great way for customers to help each other,” said Columbia Gas Communications Manager, Dave Rau.

If you would like to donate to the Salvation Army you can stop by the facility on Putnam Avenue or visit their website, www.salvationarmyohio.org/zanesville.
