Man, 10-year-old stepson die in crash that injures 6 others

MCDERMOTT, Ohio (AP) — Ohio’s State Highway Patrol says a man and his 10-year-old stepson have died and six people have been injured in a two-vehicle crash.
The patrol’s Portsmouth post said in a release that the crash occurred Sunday around midnight on State Route 73 in southern Ohio’s Scioto (seye-OH’-tuh) County. Troopers say the preliminary investigation indicates a westbound car crested a hill and went left of center, striking an eastbound vehicle head-on.
Troopers say the driver of the westbound car was 36-year-old Michael Andrus, of McDermott. He and his 10-year-old stepson, Zachary Rowe, died at the scene.
The patrol says two other children in Andrus’ car and the driver of the eastbound vehicle and his three passengers were taken to hospitals with injuries.
Troopers say their investigation is continuing.
