ZANESVILLE, Ohio – One local teenager who fought a rare disease as a child is giving back in a big way.

When Caleb Silvia was hospitalized with Kawasaki disease, he really enjoyed the toys the hospital had. Since then, Caleb created Caleb Cares 4 Kids, an organization that raises money to help kids in hospitals and provides gifts to kids.

“When I was two-years-old I was in Nationwide Children’s with Kawasaki disease which is an auto immune disorder and really the only thing that I remembered from the stay was their toy cart. So, we started by just having a toy drive and then for the past five years now, we have had a spaghetti dinner and auction,” said Silvia.

The spaghetti dinner and auction took place this evening at the Coburn United Methodist Church.

“Yeah to see how much we have grown, it is really crazy. Just in the past two years, we are already a non-profit organization and we have done so much for the community, it is really inspiring I guess to see how much things have grown into what they are,” said Silvia.
