Gatehouse/Gannett Merger approved

It’s official. Gatehouse Media and Gannett newspapers are merging.

The new company will go by the name Gannett and will become the largest newspaper publisher in the nation.

The current Gannett Company owns several area newspapers including the Times Recorder, The Jeffersonian in Cambridge, Coshocton Tribune and the Columbus Dispatch to name a few. The deal, which was approved this week, is worth an estimated $1.2 billion.
