OSU Alumni Club Supports Students with Game Day Fundraiser

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Saturdays are game days and as the Buckeyes faced off against Rutgers this afternoon, a local organization raised money to support OSU students from Muskingum County. Terry Kopcheck, President of the OSU Alumni Club of Muskingum County, says the club held its annual Game Day Watch Party at the Barn in Zanesville this afternoon.
“What we do is—all of our board members gather up items to use
for prizes. We have a raffle going on and we have small prizes, large
prizes. We’ll also have a silent auction of about 8 to 10 items
that people can bid on throughout the game.”
The Alumni Club
donates thousands of dollars in scholarships to OSU students from
Muskingum County each year; and 2019 has been no exception.
“Everything we
make today will go towards our scholarship fund. We’ve done a great
job with scholarships; we’ve given out over 50 thousand dollars the
past five years. And, in 2019 we gave out 13 thousand 500 dollars to
both incoming freshman students and current students from Muskingum
County.”
The funds raised
this afternoon are anticipated to fund at least one scholarship for
the upcoming year.
