ZANESVILLE – Covid-19 caused in-person voting to be called off at the last minute during the March primary. At this time, you will be allowed to vote in person.

“Everything is moving forward. We get new information all of the time by the Secretary of State to give us updates and we are following the mandates and the protocols as best as we can. Everybody is allowed to go to their voting location to vote. They can probably expect long lines because this is a presidential election,” Election Specialist Cheryl West said.

The Board of Elections has conducted voting by mail for several years.

“The Secretary of State beginning September the 7th will be mailing out personalized absentee ballot request forms to every registered voter in the State of Ohio. So, when they get that filled out, they can either drop it off here at the office in the security box outside of mail it back to the office which is 627 Market Street. Once we get the ballot processed, then we’ll start mailing ballots out but that won’t happen until October the 6th is when they’ll start being mailed out to people,” West said.

West says the earlier the better if you choose to apply for an absentee ballot.
