Board of Elections Seeing Increased Traffic

ZANESVILLE, Ohio-The Muskingum County Board of Elections is seeing a heavy influx of early voters this election cycle.
The entire state of Ohio has seen an over 300% increase in early voting this year compared to 2016. Tim Thompson, Board of Elections Director, talks about how Muskingum County’s early voting turnout so far.
“It has been a very good turnout so far, we have had an average of 450 to 500 people a day. We’ve mailed out 12,000, 13,000 ballots to voters and many of those have returned back already. Voters are coming steady, there’s no way I could tell what the line’s gonna be like, it just ebbs and flows.”
Many voters are showing up early for ease of use or for health concerns. If you choose to vote early, Thompson has specific instructions for you.
“If people are gonna come vote early just be ready to come and wait in a line, and if possibly there may not be a line. Just be sure you have one form of an ID… The process goes pretty quickly, most people are through in about fifteen minutes maximum.”, Thompson continued.
Early voting runs until November 2nd, national election day is November 3rd.
