John Glenn Sports Parents To Hold 5K

2020 Jingle And Mingle

NEW CONCORD, Ohio-Parents of John Glenn school’s distance running sports are holding a fundraising 5k race this Saturday, December 12th.

The fundraising is meant to replace this last year’s worth of missed opportunities due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Parent and organizer Arianne Davis says that it’s all about the children.

“This is the first Jingle and Mingle 5k that will be benefiting John Glenn’s cross country and track and field programs. What is exciting about this is it is actually three seasons of sports, cross country is the fall, but what most people don’t realize is that we do have an indoor track team that is a winter sport and we have an outdoor track team that is the spring sport so it is basically year round, nonstop for these kids.”, Davis said on a Zoom call.

Online registration ended today but there is still in person registration on the day of the race. Runners are encouraged to show their holiday spirit.

“5ks are in our blood, we thoroughly enjoy doing it. We love how it brings the community together, the camaraderie. What I think is gonna be really fun about this one being festive and holiday, a lot of times people will come out in tutus and Santa hats and jingle bells and reindeer antlers. The opportunity with COVID going on to bring everybody together and have something to celebrate.”, Davis continued.

The race begins at ten am with registration beginning at seven am on Saturday, December 12th.
