ZANESVILLE, OH – Christ’s Table has closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak among staff members. The building and operations will be closed until at least January 20th.

In the meantime The Salvation Army will be assisting those who are still in need of lunch meals.

“What we’re doing right now is we are offering lunch. It is a to go, we are serving it out of our gym like we do our dinners. And it’s going to be from the hours of 11 to 1, that’s what Christ’s Table was serving so we’re adhering to the hours that they were serving to make it easier for individuals… The lunches are Monday through Friday. However, we will not be open on Monday so we’re trying to come up with a plan for that,” Emergency Shelter Director Karen Walker said.

Normally the Salvation Army does not serve lunch because that is when Christ’s Table serves their meals. To help out during their time of need the Salvation Army has stepped forward to make sure the community is still being served. Walker explains how their lunch process will work.

“All they need to do is to come through the back alley to the gym doors. We will have a table set up with the lunches available. They come up to the table, we will hand them their lunches, and then we’ll clean the tables off of course, and then serve the next person. If they need one lunch we’ll give them one, if they need four they’ll receive four. But all they need to do is come between the hours of 11 to 1 and we will have the lunches available at that time.”

The Salvation Army staff has taken over making the lunches and they have received many donations from businesses in town. If you would like to help out they are in need of more to-go containers.
