New Lexington Police release more details about shooting

NEW LEXINGTON, Ohio–The New Lexington Police Department released more details about a shooting that injured a teenager.

Police said that around 8:00 p.m. Thursday they received a call in reference to some type of altercation taking place in the 200 block of Lincoln Street that involved a firearm.

When officers arrived, they located a 14-year-old who had been shot. The teenager was taken to a hospital in Columbus where their condition is not known at this time.

Police said they arrested a 34-year-old suspect from Columbus in connection to the incident. The suspect, whose name has not been released, is being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.

The incident remains under investigation.
