ZANESVILLE, Ohio-

The Zanesville Jaycees held an Easter baskets giveaway at their clubhouse this afternoon.

The event started off with a long line of parents and children looking for Easter joy. We caught up with the Jaycees to capture their excitement.

“We actually had a really long line before twelve, but we didn’t wanna block traffic so we actually started a little bit early. Right now it’s ten after twelve and we’ve gone through about 100 baskets. We only have about 40 left. I think it’s been a good day so far… They’re really excited to see the Easter Bunny. He’s always really excited to see them.”, vice president Travis Reed told WHIZ.

The organization always looks to provide to the community through events such as this. They also collected donations to fund other projects.

“Our fundraisers, we do stuff like this. We do a Christmas for Kids, we also do fireworks for the 4th of July. We also do scholarships depending on how much money we raise. I think last year we gave away ten $500 scholarships around the 4th of July. The more money that we raise through events like this, the more we can help the community.” , Reed continued.

The eggs and candy for the event were donated by the Dollar General distribution center.
