United Way announces Phase 2 Funding, applications open

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties has announced its phase 2 funding cycle.
United Way previously invested $200,000 in its first phase where funds were distributed towards safety net activities; emergency shelters, hot meal programs, etc. The $200,000 in phase two will be invested in empowerment activities.
“Those activities that will advance our goals in income, education and health that will build skills and produce lasting outcomes,” executive director of UWMPM Meg Deedrick said.
The United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties. By investing in these programs, it will help better and build skills in the communities and households.
“We are looking to broaden the impact, so what that means is were looking at initiatives that are going to empower our community members and make them more independent, for individuals and families,” community impact coordinator Katie Grubbs said.
Agencies that are tax exempt can apply.
The application deadline is September 9. The investment committee will review applications and announce the awards in October and payments will be given out in December and January.
