Muskingum County Land Bank Moves Forward with Redevelopment
ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Land Bank is making way for new development while continuing efforts to clean up properties across the county.
During its monthly meeting Thursday, the Land Bank announced six properties have been turned over for redevelopment. Those properties are located on Greenwood, Putnam, Lexington Avenue, Whipple Street, Washington Street, and Warwick Avenue.
“Our goal is to return these properties to tax productive status. What we try and do is anything that is able to be redeveloped into residential, commercial, industrial. We try to find somebody who’s going to purchase them for a reduced cost and then make that investment in these properties to return them to the tax base.” Land Bank Executive Director, Andy Robets, said.
And more work could soon be on the way. The Land Bank is preparing two additional applications, including one for the next round of demolition funding and is currently looking for properties that could qualify for demolition.
“We are looking for properties to demolish. So, if anybody has anything that does need demolished, it has to be either a residential structure, it cannot be a mobile home, or it has to be a commercial structure. But if anybody has any interest in that, get ahold of us.” Roberts said.
