Lola is Looking for a Home

Families looking to teach their children about responsibility may want to look into adopting this week’s pet of the week.

Lola is a 5 month old poodle who will grow to be medium to standard size and weigh about 20-30lbs. She walks on a leash and gets along with other animals. She is also very smart.

“For someone who is wanting to adopt Lola at 5 months and a puppy is a big responsibility. It takes a great deal of work. You know when they come out of a shelter they aren’t trained for perfect potty or all that so you are going to have to stay on them an do that training,” explained The Animal Shelter’s Society’s Executive Director April Cohagen-Gibson. “I think that great with smaller kids. I think that it would be great for them to have a teaching experience, some responsibility and I think Lola would do well with them.”

The Animal Shelter is also taking sponsors for their Yappy Hour Event next month. To become a sponsor you can visit the shelter’s website. Bolin Dierkes Funeral Home and VFW Post 1058 are the top dog sponsor for the event.

“When they do that it’s not just good for us because we are a non profit. It lets me know and I can let my staff and board of director know that they believe in our mission and what we are doing to drop off a check for that amount so sponsorships are available on our website. You can stop in and see us and we really appreciate the support,” said Cohagen-Gibson.

Yappy Hour will take place on April 21 at the Zanesville Country Club from 6:30-8pm. There will be an auction along with entertainment by Dr. Laura Schumann. Tickets can be purchased at the Animal Shelter Society or on the shelter’s website.
