A father shoots his son after being threatened with a machete.

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office released more details into a shooting that took place Tuesday evening in the 2400 block of Chestnut Hills Road. Authorities said that when they arrived they found 45-year-old Joshua Valentine of Homer lying on the garage floor with life threatening injuries.

He was taken to Mount Carmel East where he succumbed to his injuries.

Officials said it was determined that Joshua was shot by his father, 66-year-old Randy Valentine after Joshua became violent and threatened his father with a machete, resulting in the shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time. Detectives continue to investigate.
