ZANESVILLE, OH – The winner of the first ever Linda Regula Memorial Scholarship was announced Friday.

Local artist and recent West Muskingum High School graduate Kelsey Price was awarded the scholarship!

The $2,000 scholarship, in honor of local artist and creator of the Y-Bridge Arts festival Linda Regula, is awarded to high school seniors in Muskingum County planning to pursue a career in the arts.

Price says she is honored to be the very first winner and is excited to continue with her lifelong passion for art!

“Since I was little, it was just something I always liked to do and my family has been really good about supporting me and getting me what I need to succeed, and my dad’s really good about getting me anything I need to make things or learn how to make things. I just really want to make my friends and my family proud and I just put all that into what I love to do,” Price explained.

The scholarship money will go towards Price’s tuition at the Columbus College of Art & Design where she plans to continue her art and major in comics & narrative practices

Art COZ President Kristen Brown and MCCF CEO Brian Wagner say they are honored to award this scholarship and look forward to continuing to shine a light on the local art community!

“This just helps shine some light on artists and up and coming artists because there are so many in Zanesville and I don’t think people realize how rich we are in the arts in downtown Zanesville,” Brown told us.

“We at the foundation are so honored to be able to hold these funds to help these scholarships grow and help these artists really, really shine the light on our community and see how important they are and the difference that they make day in and day out within our community,” Wagner said.

Price encourages aspiring artists to keep working, keep practicing and networking, and says by doing that, they can do anything they want!

4 runners up for the scholarship, as well as Price, will be featured at the Y-Bridge Art Festival later this month.
