SEAT Hosts Meeting to Enhance Community Engagement

ZANESVILLE, OH – Southeast Area Transit held a meeting to educate and provide some information to local agencies and providers.
The meeting was held in the auditorium of the John McIntire Library. Representatives from SEAT got community members involved by showing what a typical day as a bus driver is like, who SEAT provides transportation to, and how much the fare costs.
Howard Stewart, the Transit Director for Southeast Area Transit, said they are always looking to improve themselves for their riders.
“We are constantly looking at what we can do and how we can better serve individuals,” Stewart said. “We’re also trying to improve our routes and our vehicles. We actually just received our first vehicle in 3 years last week and hopefully 5 more are on the way before the end of the year.”
Stewart said that the current SEAT vehicles can travel up to 200 miles in just one day.
“We put a lot of miles on those vehicles everyday, anywhere from 200 to 215 miles a day,” Stewart said. “That is a lot of wear and tear and we have a great maintenance department but they can only do so much.”
Stewart hopes to host another meeting like this one to further a connection between SEAT and other community members.
